South Kashmir: Pulwama town shuts for 7th consecutive day against civilian killings

Srinagar: Authorities Friday imposed restrictions in Pulwama town and adjoining areas to foil the protest program of Coordination Committee to protest against civilian killings.

Eyewitnesses said that authorities have made heavy deployment of police and CRPF personnel personnel to enforce the restrictions.

Coordination Committee Pulwama had called for a protest after Friday prayers after which a memorandum-demanding inquiry into the killings would be submitted to Deputy Commissioner Pulwama.

A police officer said that the restrictions were imposed as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order.

Meanwhile, a complete shutdown is being observed in Pulwama town for the 7th consecutive day against the killing of seven civilians and three local militants last Saturday.

Reports said that all shops and business establishments are shut while traffic is off the roads.
