State Tax Deptt initiates action against M/S Dogra Medical Hall for suppressing sales

JAMMU: State Tax Department initiated action against M/S Dogra Medical Hall here for suppressing the sales to evade GST.

According to a spokesman of the Tax Department, during inspection and verification of sale documents of M/s Dogra Medical Hall, a team of Tx Department found that the Drug Store had an approximate sale of Rs1.5 crores for the year 2017-18. “However, the sales had been suppressed and sales only to the tune of Rs72 lakh approximately were reflected in the GST returns,” he said and added that action under Section 67 of the J&K SGST Act has been initiated against M/s Dogra Medical Hall, opposite New Government Psychiatric Diseases Hospital, Jammu.

He said the team also inspected M/S Asian Roadways, a transport agency at Transport Nagar, Jammu on the basis of specific inputs received. “On the spot more than 4000 kgs of Polythene was confiscated and handed over to the State Pollution Control Board,” he said and added that vehicle No: JK-19: 2427, being loaded at M/s Asian Roadways, was checked physically and 1450 kgs of scrap copper, loaded in the vehicle without proper bill, was found in violation of GST Act & Rules. “The other material found in the vehicle was also cross-verified with the bills where huge variation was found,” he said and added that the vehicle was subsequently seized and put to physical check under the GST Act and Rules.

The spokesman said that the inspections were carried out on the instructions of the Commissioner, State Taxes, J&K, PK Bhat and the inspection team comprised Additional Commissioner, State Taxes (Administration & Enforcement), Jammu, Dy Commissioner, State Taxes, Enforcement (Central), Jammu and State Taxes Officers and Inspectors.

The spokesman said that during the past week the teams of the State Taxes Department have launched an intensive drive against the GST violators and huge response in the shape of inputs is being received from the general public.

Meanwhile, the State Taxes Department has also initiated the process of collection of data regarding all the business establishments in the State for and for this purpose various teams are conducting spot verification of every business unit and recording the required data.

The State Taxes Department is also contemplating to launch special drive against non-filers of GST Returns who have failed to file returns since launch of GST (July, 2017) and also such business units who have made purchases worth crores but have not filed the GSTR3B returns.

The department has identified more than 1300 such dealers, having made purchases worth Rs718.72 crores, and the drive shall be launched shortly, the spokesman said.
