Srinagar: A police constable was killed in a road accident on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway on the city outskirts, official sources said here.

They said motorcycle met with an accident at Panthachowk in Srinagar outskirts late on Saturday evening, resulting in critical injuries to the motorcyclist, identified as constable Mithan Singh. “The injured was immediately taken to a hospital where he was declared brought dead,” they said.

After completing all the legal and medical formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his relatives for last rites.
