North Kashmir: Police arrest 6 youth during nocturnal raids in Sopore

Srinagar: Government forces have arrested six youth during nocturnal raids from parts of Sopore in northern Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Sources said that the government forces conducted raids during the intervening night of Sunday and Monday.

They said that forces raided many houses in Nowpora, Arampora and other areas of the town at around and arrested at least six youth.

A police official said that the youth have been detained for their alleged involvement in stone pelting incidents.

Pertinently, the Sopore town remained shut for three consecutive days against the killing of local militant Mehraj Din Khan alias Marouf of New Colony Sopore.

Khan was killed along with top Lashkar-e-Toiba commander Naveed Jatt in a gunfight with government forces in Chattergam village of central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
