Girl injured during Kulgam attack succumbs in Srinagar hospital

Srinagar: A Kulgam girl who was injured during the exchange of fire between militants and government forces on Tursday has succumbed to injuries at Srinagar’s SMHS hospital.

Identified as Muskaan Jan, daughter of Gh Nabi Wani, a resident of Wanigund Qaimoh was injured during “crossfire” when Army camp inside SKAUST research centre Khudwani was attacked by militants.

The girl was undergoing treatment in a Srinagar hospital and succumbed to injuries today morning, reports said.

Police said that militants fired several shots at an army camp stationed in a part of the Rice Research Institute of Sher-e-Kashmir Agriculture University’s (SKUAST) campus at Khudwani on Thursday morning.

“The army soldiers retaliated, leading to a brief exchange of fire. Muskan was unfortunately caught in crossfire and sustained bullet injury,” he said.

She was removed to a sub-district hospital in Qaimoh where doctors referred to the SMHS hospital in Srinagar for treatment.
