A person who believes in the genuineness of ‘sacred’ Kashmir struggle will never vote: Geelani

Hurriyat patriarch Syed Ali Geelani Sunday said that ‘a true supporter of Kashmir struggle will never vote’. He asserted that when people were killed in 2016 for participating in the funeral of militant commander Burhan Wani, “all vote-seeking parties were watching the bloodbath of innocent people as mute spectators”.

Addressing a Seerat conference organized by his party at Hyderpora here, Geelani said a person “who believes in the genuineness of the sacred Kashmir struggle will never vote”.

“Don’t you remember how the (pro-India) parties which are coming to seek votes today watched the bloodbath of innocent people after the killing of BurhanWani,” the ailing Geelani said, as participants responded saying “we will boycott, we will boycott.”

He reiterated the call for boycott of elections and asked people “not pay heed to those who are out to sell the sacrifices of people in the name of votes.”

Mentioning the sacrifices of thousands of our prisoners Geelani said that Sang Parivaar is only prolonging their custody using judicial tools and the political prisoners of Kashmir continue to bear the brunt of this victimization for more than a year now.

Speaking on the occasion, Tehreek-e-Hurriyat chairman, Mohammad Ashraf Sehraie said that Prophet (PBUH) was designated a pious mission of establishing the rule of Quran and Sunnah. As Islam can never thrive and flourish under the shadow of any other religion or faith.

He said that we too have to strive for establishing system of governance as we believe it is the only way to lead the ailing humanity to peace and prosperity.
