After 8 days Srinagar-Leh highway reopens; Only stranded vehicles allowed to travel today

Srinagar: The Srinagar-Leh Highway reopened for vehicular traffic on Friday morning after remaining closed for eight consecutive days due to landslides amid heavy snowfall last week.

The officials however said that only stranded vehicles will be allowed to travel initially.

“The stranded vehicles in different areas of Drass, Meenmarg, Kargil and Leh mostly carrying passengers, tourists and Srinagar bound empty trucks will br allowed to move towards Sonamarg on Friday.”

The traffic on the highway was closed on Thursday last week due to accumulation of  snow at Zojilla pass.
