Shutdown in southern Kashmir’s Shopian against militant killings

Srinagar: Southern Shopian district is observing a complete shutdown on Wednesday to mourn the death of two Hizbul Mujahideen militants killed in a gunfight with government forces yesterday.

Witnesses said that all shops and business establishments are shut in the district Wednesday, while a thin movement of traffic plied on the roads.
Two militants Idrees Ahmad of Safnagri and Amir Amin of Awneera were killed in a pre-dawn encounter by government forces on Tuesday.

However, the movement of transport remained largely unaffected.
