Srinagar: Massive clashes erupted in Pampore town of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district after the news about the killing of local militant in Budgam gunfight spread in the area.
Witnesses said that people hit streets and pelted rocks on government forces. The clashes soon spread on the Srinagar-Islamabad highway forcing the closure of the road. They said that government forces used tear smoke shells and pellet fires to disperse the protesters.
Meanwhile, reports said that a woman has been injured during the clashes.
“They were both involved in a series of attacks on security establishments in the area,” the spokesperson said, adding “Arms and ammunition were recovered from the encounter site.”
