Kashmir: Srinagar police arrest five gamblers

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday arrested five gamblers from city centre here.

A police spokesperson said that on specific information regarding the presence of some gamblers at Perzoo Park near GPO Srinagar, Police party headed by SHO Police Station Kothibagh Inspector Sajad Ahmad rushed to the spot and apprehended 5 gambler’s.

Police revealed the identity of the gamblers as: Bilal Ahmad Ghassi, son of Nazir Ahmad Ghassi, a resident of Bund Kothibagh; Abass Ahmad Dharam, son of Manzoor Ahmad, a resident of Abi Karpora Dalgate; Firdous Ahmad Handoo, son of  Ali Mohd Handoo, a resident of Chinar Bagh; Shehjar Ahmad Soda, son of GH Mohd Soda, a resident of Kalaf Nallah Dalgate; Shabir Ahmad Handoo, son of Ali Mohd, a resident of Chinar Bagh.

The police spokesperson said that stake money of Rs 3,200, 5 Mobile phones, a pair of gloves, an earpiece and two gambling card sets were recovered from the spot.

“In this connection Case FIR No. 89/2018 U/S 13 Gambling Act has been registered and investigation taken up,” he said.
