For 3rd successive Friday, 16th this year Govt disallows congregational prayers in Jamia Masjid Srinagar

Srinagar: Government for the third consecutive Friday today disallowed congregational prayers in Jamia Masjid in Srinagar.

The historic Mughal era Masjid, therefore, was shut for worshippers for 16th time this year.

Hurriyat Conference (M) chairperson Mirwaiz Umar Farooq who delivers the congregation sermon at the grand mosque castigated the government for curbing the peoples movement around the Jamia.

“Its for the third consecutive time that congregational prayers have not be allowed and this year Jamia has been closed for 16 times. It’s 20th day of house detention. At one hand target killing of our youth is being perpetrated and on the other hand religious rights are being curbed. Even a protest against brutalities is not being allowed (SIC),” Mirwaiz tweeted.
