Srinagar: Intense clashes rocked Makarpora village of Arwani in southern Kashmir in Anantnag district Thursday evening after a gunfight ensued between government forces and militants in the area.

Reports said that scores of youths took to streets and started pelting stones on government forces who retaliated triggering clashes.

The gunfight between government forces and militants ensued in the village after government forces launched a search operation in the village after inputs about presence of militants.

The clashes were going on when this report was being filed.
