Two militants slain in gunfight at Nowgam in Kashmir’s capital city

Srinagar: Two militants have been killed and 5 forces personnel wounded in gun battle in Sothu area of Nowgam on city outskirts in Kashmir’s capital city Srinagar on Wednesday.

The gunfight broke out around 1:45 am in the area following a cordon and search operation over specific inputs about presence of militants in the area.

The slain militants have been identified as Sabzar Ahmad Sofi, a Phd scholar, a resident of Sangam, Anantnag and Asif Ahmad Gojri of Anantnag, according to a local news gathering agency.

Following the gunfight, massive clashes have ensued in the area.

Meanwhile, authorities suspended internet services in Srinagar and Budgam as a “precautionary measure” to prevent law and order situation.
