Police locked Geelani’s gate, disallowed him to march to Lalchowk: Hurriyat (G)

Srinagar:  Hurriyat Conference (G) on Tuesday said that its chairperson and Hurriyat patriarch Syed Ali Geelani was not allowed to move out of his “jail cum residence”, and march towards Lal Chowk to lead a protest march against the “Kulgam carnage”.

A spokesperson of the amalgam said that a large contingent of police was deployed in and around the residence of Geelani and locked the the gate of his jail cum residence was locked main gate from outside by the Jammu and Kashmir police, who didn’t allow anybody to go in or move out.

The spokesperson said that Geelani strongly condemned “thjis arrogant and inhuman police action”.

“He said that in world’s largest and heavily militarized zone of Jammu and Kashmir, people are not even allowed to breathe freely. Their voice is chocked and their human needs are curbed on the pretext of security,” the spokesperson quoted Geelani as having said.

“He said that innocent lives are snatched by the barrel of gun and then people are not allowed to mourn these deaths.

“Suggesting the arrogant and brute rulers to get to the basic and ground realities, Hurriyat chairman cautioned them that arbitrary and ruthless measures cannot lease your illegal and forceful occupation for too long, as history stands testimony to the fact that military might and unrealistic attitude can never succeed in subjugating a nation for ever.

“He questioned them that how long will you keep yourself in a deceitful denial mode as every time people in general convey their unambiguous message that come what may they will never accept and legitimize the unholy and unnatural bond of union with India. But most brazenly and shamefully, Indian rulers ignore these hard facts and continue to parrot the rhetoric of integral part,” the spokesperson said.
