Panchayat elections to begin in Jammu & Kashmir from Nov 17

Srinagar: Chief Electoral Officer Jammu and Kashmir Shaleen Kabra on Monday said that the polls for Panchayats will be held in 9 phases with a gap of two to three days each between the phases.

The first phase, the CEO said, will commence on November 17. The candidates can file the nominations from tomorrow.

The CEO said that the ballot papers will be used in the Panchayat elections instead of EVMs. 4483 Sarpanchs and 35028 Panches will be elected in the elections.

The timing of the polling will be from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm.
