Srinagar: Parts of Chenab valley in Jammu division are observing a shutdown on Monday to protest the civilian and militant killings in southern Kashmir’s Kulgam on Sunday.
The call for shutdown was issued by Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) to protest the “bloodbath” in Laroo village of Kulgam where six civilians died in a blast at the site of a gunfight yesterday.
Shops, business establishments and some private schools of Muslim community remained closed in Bhaderwah, Doda and Kishtwar. However, government schools, offices and banks are functioning normally.
The highway town of Banihal in Ramban district and the markets located on the highway are also observing a shutdown to mourn the killings.
