Srinagar: Suspected militants shot dead a policeman in Sopore area of northern Kashmir’s Baramulla district late Friday night, police said.

Police said that militants barged into the house of Javid Ahmad Lone, son of Abdul Khaliq Lone in Warpora at around 10:45 pm and fired upon him.

Lone suffered serious bullet wounds and was shifted to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to injuries.

The slain was working as a follower in the police department and was on leave.
