Kashmir municipal polls: No voting in Sopore’s 21 wards, 13 BJP candidates win unopposed

Srinagar: Eight Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) candidates have won unopposed while no candidate has filed nomination from other 13 wards of the Sopore municipal council which were to go to polls on Saturday, reports said.

Eight BJP candidates, who had filed nominations from Ward number 1, 2, 3,4,5,17,18 and 21 have won unopposed since no other contestant joined the poll fray, officials said. However, 13 other wards of the committee remain vacant as no one filed the nomination papers.

Sopore town has a total number of 41228 registered of which 20878 are males 20, 248 are females.
