Clashes erupt during CASO in southern Kashmir’s Shopian village

Shopian: Clashes between civilian protesters and government forces erupted in souther Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday after the later laid a cordon and search operation (CASO) in a village.

Reports said that a joint team of army, CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir police cordoned off Naidgam village and started door to door searches.

Angry youths, reports said pelted stones on government forces triggering clashes.

They said that forces used tear smoke shells to disperse them. However, the youth regrouped and continued attacking government forces with stones.

The clashes amid CASO were going on when reports last came in.
