Bloodshed is the result of non resolution of Kashmir dispute: Jama’at-e-Islami

“Expresses shock over the killing of Manan Wani”

Srinagar: Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir has expressed its deep shock over the loss of a “highly qualified young and budding intellectual of Kashmir Dr Abdul Manan Wani along with his associate”.

“This bloodshed is the result of non-resolution of the long pending Kashmir issue badly affecting millions of people living in Jammu and Kashmir region despite the fact that they have been promised a number of times through the United Nations Security Council by way of resolutions, signed by both India and Pakistan as far back as in 1947, 1948 and 1949 that they would be allowed to determine their political future according to their own aspirations,” Jamaat said in a press statement.

“If India is sincere in stopping the bloodshed and the human loss in this region, then it should come forward and start a meaningful dialogue with the government of Pakistan and the real representatives of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and find a just and stable solution of this human issue keeping in view the aspirations of the people living therein”.

The religious organization said the “suppression and oppression of the common people and the killing spree is going to yield no results at all and these tactics only add fuel to the fire which can engulf the whole South-Asian region in the future”.

Furthermore Jama’at has expressed its deep concern over the mysterious killing of young activist Tariq Ahmad Ganaie of Meemander Shopian by some “merciless unknown gunmen”.
