Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference working president and former chief minister Omar Abdullah has taken a dig at the Bharatiya Janata Party after the party roped in a former militant commander to fight the Urban Local Body elections.

The former militant had returned to this side of Jammu and Kashmir under the rehabilitation policy that was started by Omar in 2010.

Omar blamed the BJP for ending the rehabilitation policyin 2014.

“Sadly it’s the same rehabilitation policy that the BJP brought to an abrupt end in 2014. The BJP can get these men to fight elections but can’t work out a way for more of them to come back home. (SIC),” Omar tweeted.

Pertinently a former militant commander, Farooq Ahmad Khan alias Saifullah Farooq who returned under Chief Minister’s rehabilitation policy via Nepal in 2011 has filed nomination papers for Municipal elections on BJP ticket from Srinagar.
