ULB in J&K polls will re-establish long overdue grassroots democracy: Rajnath Singh

Srinagar: Home Minister of India Rajnath Singh on Friday said that the local body polls in Jammu and Kashmir will have historic significance and re-establish long overdue grassroots democracy.

He said that Government of India (GOI) is providing all possible support including central forces for smooth conduct of these polls in Jammu & Kashmir, a news gathering agency reported.

Singh said the union government will provide all support, including central forces, for smooth conduct of panchayat and urban local body polls.

“These local body elections will have a historic significance in many aspects. The local bodies’ elections in Jammu and Kashmir will re-establish the long overdue grassroots level democracy in the state,” he said.
