Civilian killing: ‘Pro-freedom’ protests break out in Kashmir University

Srinagar: Scores of students of the Kashmir University on Thursday morning staged a protest in the varsity campus against the killing of civilian by government forces in Norr Bagh area of Srinagar city.

A student informed The Kashmir Press that the students from various departments assembled in the campus of Humanities department and later led a protest march in the varsity campus.

They said that the students raised pro-freedom and anti-India slogans during the protest demonstration.

A civilian identified as Muhammad Saleem Malik was killed by government forces during a cordon and search operation in Noorbagh area of Srinagar city.

The slain civilian was laid to rest at martyrs graveyard amid massive anti-India and pro-freedom sloganeering. reports said that thousands of people participated in the funeral praters of the slain civilian.
