Kargil: The Indian Air Force (IAF) on Tuesday rescued a foreign couple trapped in snow-bound area in this border district of Ladakh region in Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said.

He said one Micheal Mobuis and his wife were trapped between Pudzong La and Rang Dum due to sudden heavy snowfall during the past two hours. SoS was received by Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) from the trapped tourists, they said, adding that Deputy Commissioner (DC), Kargil immediately informed the Divisional

Commissioner, Kashmir and Civil Aviation department of the state.

Later, the IAF was informed and rescue operation was launched this morning following improvement in the weather, sources said, adding that the couple was airlifted to Leh, where they were rushed to hospital.

The condition of both the tourists was stable, they added.

The nationality of the tourists was being ascertained.
