Srinagar: Unidentified persons late Tuesday night tried to set ablaze a Panchayat Ghar in Jamanagri village of Shopian in southern Kashmir.

Locals said that the timely action of the villagers however restricted the spread of fire.

The said that as the locals came to know that the Panchayat Ghar has been set on fire, the locals rushed out to douse the fames.

They said that the building has suffered minor injuries in the fire.

This is fifth such incident in the past week in southern Kashmir where unidentified persons have tried to torch the Panchayat Ghar’s.
