SKIMS employees protest, demand immediate release of colleague detained by NIA

Srinagar: Scores of employees of Kashmir’s tertiary care hospital Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) on Thursday held a protest demonstration in the hospital premises demanding release of their colleague Syed Shakeel Ahmad, who was detained by the Indian federal investigating agency NIA on August 30.

Syed Shakeel is son of United Jihad Council supreme commander Syed Salahuddin.

The protesting employees included non gazetted and technical staff of the hospital. Raising slogans the employees demanded the release of Shakeel.

Shakeel was arrested by National Investigation Agency (NIA) from his home in Rambagh area of Srinagar. He was later taken to Delhi by NIA for the questioning.

Shakeel, the elder son of Salahuddin, works in the microbiology department of the hospital and is a senior lab technician.
