Boy dead after collapsing with the wall of water tank while swimming in Pulwama

Srinagar: A youth died when his head collapsed with the wall while he was swimming in the irrigation department constructed water tank in Pulwama on Wednesday afternoon.

Identified as Saddam Ahmad, 19, son of Abdul Qayoom Wani, the deceased is a resident of Pakherpora in Budgam district.

The eyewitnesses told The Kashmir Press that Wednesday afternoon a group of youth went swimming in a local nallah in Achgoza village of Pulwama, besides which the irrigation department has constructed water tanks. However, the water tanks are not fenced. The boy jumped into it and collapsed with the tanks wall and died on the spot.

The local residents have alleged the PHE department of callous approach. “The department has left the water tank without fencing, thus making it easily accessible for the local youth to swim in it,” the locals alleged.
