Baramulla: The residents of several villages of Rafiabad area of Baramulla district on Wednesday stated a protest demonstration against the non-availability of water for the last several days in the area.

Witnesses said that the residents of Makhipora Bala and Dangiwachi blocked the Baramulla-Rafiabad road and raised slogans against the district administration and Public Health Engineering Department for failing to address their water-related grievances.

“They warned the concerned authorities that if they fail to supply water to the residents, they will launch a massive protest,” the witness told The Kashmir Press.

Meanwhile, the witnesses said that, later, a police party reached the spot and ensured the protesting villagers that their concerns will be communicated to the concerned officials and their grievances shall be addressed at the earliest.

The protesters later dispersed and the traffic was restored on Baramulla-Rafiabad road.
