Police confirm ‘some incidents of abduction’

Srinagar: Police on Friday confirmed that ‘some abductions’ have taken place in south Kashmir during last night.“Some incidents of abduction have come to the notice of Police in #South Kashmir,” police said in a tweet.“We are ascertaining details and circumstances. In due course it shall be placed in public domain,” the tweet added.

 

Unknown gunmen last night have abducted seven relatives of police officers from south Kashmir’s Kulgam, Shopian and Pulwama districts, According to report the gunmen on Thursday evening abducted Zubair Ahmad, son of a policeman from Arwani area of Kulgam district; Arif Ahmed, brother of a middle-rung police officer from Arwani; Faizan Ahmad, son of a policeman from Kharpora, Kulgam; Sumar Ahmad Rather, son of a policeman from Yaripora, Kulgam; and Gowhar Ahmad, brother of a Deputy Superintendent of Police from Katapora, Kulgam.

 

Earlier on Thursday, gunmen abducted Nasir Ahmad, son of a policeman from Midoora Tral.Gunmen had on Wednesday abducted Asif Ahmad, son of a local policeman Rafiq Ahmad Rather, from Pinglish village of Tral in Pulwama district.

 

Reports said that a group of masked gunmen barged inside the house of Mohammad Ashraf Shah and abducted his son Adnan Ahmad Shah, from his home in Thairun Trenz village in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on late last night. Adnan is a nephew of Deputy Superintendent of Police Mohammad Syed Shah.
