Jammu Police foils series of blasts attack in Jammu, New Delhi, terrorist nabbed with grenades, cash

 

Jammu: In a major breakthrough police have arrested a terrorist with live grenades and cash from Gandhi Nagar area here and foiled an attempt to carry out serial grenade blasts attack in the winter capital and New Delhi on Independence Day.

“We have already sounded alert in the winter capital ahead of Independence Day and as a part of enhanced security grid, police team late night on Sunday at a check point near Chatri Morh in Gandhi Nagar intercepted a pedestrian on suspicion and during frisking recovered explosives ith cash from his possession,” S D Singh Jamwal, IGP Jammu here told reporters.

He said, “During check police apprehend one Arfan Hassan Wani, son of Late Gulam Hassan Wani, resident of Danger, Awantipora, Kashmir as eight live grenades and a cash worth Rs 60,000 was recovered from his possession.”

The IGP said that he had to leave for the national capital with grenades and was on way to keep them in a hideout.

“As per initital investigations, he was a member of Zakir Musa headed Tanzeem and was intouch with Rehaan, second to Musa,” he added and said that he is being interrogated while investions into the matter are in progress.

The IGP however, also claimed that accused in last month grenade attack at Jammu Bus Stand in which 3 cops and a civilian got injured, has also been arrested and being questioned.

A case under Explosive Substance Act has been registered and investigation is on. (UNI)
