Govt orders magisterial inquiry in youth’s killing at Farooq Abdullah’s residence

Jammu:  The district administration here late on Saturday evening ordered a magisterial enquiry into the killing of a youth inside the residence of National Conference and former state chief minister Dr Farooq Abdullah’s residence here.

Taking cognizance of the protests staged by the relatives, who alleged it as ‘cold blooded murder’ at the hands of security guard posted at the residence of Dr Abdullah in Bhatindi area, the Government has ordered magisterial inquiry to find out the cause of death of the youth.

District Magistrate Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, with the powers vested in him under section 176 of CrPC has appointed Alyas Khan, Sub Divisional Magistrate Jammu North as Magistrate, who shall inquire into the cause of death of the deceased Syed Murfad Shah, son of Imzad Hussain Shah, resident of Gulhuta, Poonch at present Bantalab, Jammu.

The magisterial inquiry shall be completed within five weeks positively, read the order.

The magisterial inquiry was ordered after the relatives of the deceased and other people protested and blocked the road at Chinore, Bantalab.

They alleged foul play in the death of the deceased and were asking for impartial and fair enquiry.


A committee of Board of Doctors has also been constituted to conduct post-mortem of the deceased.
