Pak violates ceasefire on LoC, soldier injured, Army Commander reviews security in Doda

Jammu: Pakistan Army on Tuesday violated the ceasefire agreement and fired heavily on the Line of Control in Nowshera sector of Rajouri while Army Commander Northern Command Lt Gen Ranbir Singh also reviewed the security scenario in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir.

“Pakistan Army on Tuesday evening fired unprovoked along the LoC in Nowshera sector of Rajouri,” official sources here said.

They said that own troops effectively retaliated to the firing while one jawan was also reportedly suffered injuries in the cross border firing.

“Exchange of firing was in progress,” they added.

Meanwhile Lt Gen Ranbir Singh, Army Commander, Northern Command, accompanied by the White Knight Corps Commander, Lt Gen Saranjeet Singh also visited Doda based Counter Insurgency Force – Delta at Dharmund to review the op preparedness and the prevailing security situation.

Maj Gen Rajiv Nanda, GOC, Counter Insurgency Force – Delta briefed the Army Commander on prevailing security situation and the preparedness of Force in dealing with the same.

The Army Commander also reviewed the security arrangements for Amarnath Yatra in view of the recent threats by the militants groups.

The Army Commander also visited forward posts where he was briefed in detail on the actions being undertaken to ensure a robust counter terrorist grid.

He interacted with the soldiers and exhorted them to continue to remain vigilant.

Lt General Ranbir Singh complimented the formation for their untiring efforts and reiterated the continued need to remain vigilant to counter the nefarious designs of the anti national elements. (UNI)
