Jammu: An Afghan national was wednesday arrested by Indian police after he overstayed his visa and was illegally obtaining Aadhaar and PAN cards.
According to media reports the Afghan national identified as Barkat Hussain (45), a resident of Afghanistan’s capital Kabul, was moving aroundnear the Line of Control in the Akhnoor sector here.
Police officials were quoted by media reports saying that Hussain has told police that he lived in Delhi.
“An Afghan passport, Indian visa that had expired two years ago, an Aadhaar card — according to which he belonged to Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir — and a PAN card were seized from him,” a police official was qouted by media reports.
He has been taken to Joint Interrogation Centre for further questioning and It is not immediately clear whether the Aadhaar and PAN cards were real.
