SMC demolishing illegal construction carried out by Hattrick food owner

Srinagar: Srinagar Municipal Committee (SMC) Wednesday demolished the illegal constructions for commercial purposed carried out by the Hattrick food owner Showkat Chowdhry in uptown locality of Sanatnagar.

SMC Commissioner Riyaz Ahmad Wani said as soon they came to know about the illegal construction carried out by the Hattrick food owner, they sent the teams to demolish the structures.

“As soon as we came to know that the illegal constructions are being carried out by Showket chowdhry at his residence at Sanatnagar, we quickly sent our team and demolished the whole construction there,” he said.

“The violator had erected a corrugated tin sheet fence and was illegally constructing a commercial structure. It was completely unlawful”.

The SMC has sent earth movers and team of people with hammers to demolish the structures.

Chowdhry is a well-known business man in Srinagar and owns Hattrick foods, Schools, and other business enterprises.

Other than that, SMC said they also razed an illegal construction at Raj Bagh lal Mandi adjacent to 14th Avenue Café.

The illegal structure was being constructed by one Sheikh Gulzar Ahmad.

“He too had erected corrugated tin sheet fence and was carrying out illegal work. Our team acted promptly and demolished the whole constructions,” Wani said.

SMC said in Srinagar, so far they have registered 274 violations of Srinagar master plan violations.
