Semi Ring road land owners protest, demand fair compensation

Semi-ring road land owner’s welfare committee on Saturday staged a protest demonstration outside deputy commissioner Budgam’s office

Scores of the farmers whose land will be acquired for construction of a semi-ring road from various areas of Budgam shouting anti-governmental slogans demanded a fair compensation and threatened of hunger strike if they are not paid adequate compensation.

The protesters said that an alternative 62 km highway is coming up connecting outer Pampore highway with Manigam Ganderbal through the Wathoor, Budgam, Wadwan, Narbal, Sumbal and Lar Ganderbal. The Semi Ring road starts from Gallandar Pampore and ends at Manigam area of Ganderbal.

lot of Agriculture land will be acquired in Pulwama, Budgam and some parts of Bandipora and Ganderbal districts. Most of the affected district will be in Budgam as around 4000 Kanals of land will be acquired and in Ganderbal 2341 Kanals will be acquired very soon.

According to the protestors, the government is paying four times more money than the actual rate to the farmers during the land acquisition in other states of India but the same is not followed for the farmers whose land is acquired for the ring road project in Jammu and Kashmir.
