Govt requests education department to implement 7th pay commission for SSA teachers

Srinagar: The government has requested the education department to implement the recommendations of 7th pay commission in favour of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers.

The government has directed secretary to government school education department, Farooq Ahmad Shah, to implement the recommendations of 7th pay commission in favour of SSA teachers of Jammu and Kashmir.

The development has taken place after the employee body made a written memorandum to the government of Jammu and Kashmir demanding the implementation of the 7th pay commission in their favour.

“This has reference to the enclosed representation of 21st June 2018, received from Abdul Qayoom Wani, President Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC), Jammu and Kashmir and others, on the subject cited above,” the order reads.

The government has furnished the report of the said order from the secretary school education within the time period of four days.

“I am desired to forward this said representation for a report in this matter, which may kindly be communicated to this secretariat by 27th of June 2018,” order further reads.

The SSA teachers, who are around 40000 in number, had been continuously protesting against the state government for not implementing the 7th pay commission in their favour.

Apart from regular protests, the SSA teachers also held a protest on the eve of Eid day to press for their demands.
