Voice of victims terms UN human rights report on Kashmir eye opener for world community

Srinagar: Voice of Victims, on Friday termed the human rights report on Kashmir as an eye opener for the world community.

While welcoming the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights report on human rights violations in Kashmir, the executive director of the VOV, Abdul Qadeer Dar said that  it was the moral duty of UN High Commissioner to aware world nations about the human rights violations in Kashmir at the hands of Indian forces.

Dar while lauding the efforts of UN Commissioner said that the report had recognised the grave human rights violations committed by India and that  there was an urgent need to address the human rights violations carried out by the state in Kashmir.

“During the last thirty years, Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing brutal human rights violation at the hands of Indian forces and nobody was recognising the grave HR violations. The cases of torture, enforced disappearances, arbitrary detention, gang rapes, mass graves, half widows and cases of pellet victims in Kashmir at the hands of government forces got recognition first time in 49 page report of UN high commission,” Dar said.
