A day after the chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami announced early release of inmates, home department on Wednesday issued individual orders for the release of 67 convicts from the Puzhal central jail, Times of India reported.
Officials said that the government orders 364-431, dates June 4 have been issued, reports said.
Reports further said that the orders were dispatched to the superintendent of central jail today.
Soon after the orders will reach h to the prison, the prisoners would be release after completing the formalities including the signing of bonds.
Earlier the prison officials said that the convicts had completed ten years in prison.
The prison department, after a GO was passed on February, laying down certain norms for premature release of life convicts who completed temptress in jail, shortlisted 1753 convicts from the none central prisons for men and three special prisons for women.
