A youth died after a branch of a decayed Chinar tree fell on him in Sumbal town of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Tuesday afternoon.

The decreased was identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Kumar (25), son of Ghulam Qadir Kumar a resident of Asham area of Sumbal town.

Kumar, according to reports, passing by the said way when strong winds broke off a Chinar tree branch which fell on him, resulting in his on spot death.

Meanwhile, locals from Asham and Sumbal areas took out a protest march while carrying the dead body.

The protesters slogans alleged that the administration had failed to chop down the decayed branches of Chinar trees, despite repeated pleas.
