Mehbooba congratulates Shabir Shah’s daughter Sama on topping CBSE exams, says she is an inspiration

Srinagar: In a first, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has congratulated a senior resistance leader’s daughter for topping the state in the CBSE-2018 examinations, the results of which were declared on 26 May.

Sama Shabir, daughter of incarcerated resistance leader Shabir Shah, brought laurels to Jammu and Kashmir by securing 97.8 per cent marks in Class 10+2 examinations.

Mehbooba Mufti sent out a tweet to express her joy on Sama’s success: “Congratulations to Sama Shabir Shah for securing 97.8% marks in the class 12th class examination. Her hard work & determination has helped her overcome all odds & she is truly an inspiration for the youth of our state.”

Sama Shabir is a student of Delhi Public School (DPS) Athwajan. Her father is currently lodged in Delhi’s Tihar jail.

Senior PDP leader and cabinet minister Naeem Akhtar also took to Twitter to shower praise on Sama: “Congratulations Sama Shabir Shah You inspire all children growing up in adversity. Education is only way to dignity, empowerment @parawahid.”

Both Mehbooba and Naeem described Sama as inspiration for Kashmir’s youth.
