Police fires pellets inside Jamia Masjid: Several injured, ten hit in eye

Srinagar: Several youth sustained pellet injuries, ten in their eyes, after police fired pellets inside the premises of historic Jamia Masjid located in Srinagar’s old city, eye witnesses told The Kashmir Press.

The witnesses said the clashes broke out between the pro-freedom protesters and the police soon after the Friday prayers were over at the Mosque.

“The police chased the boys after firing pellets and tear gas canisters,” eye witnesses said.

“Then they (police) entered the Jamia Masjid premises and fired indiscriminate pellets on the protesting youth”.

The witnesses said scores of youth were injured of whom ten received pellets in their eyes.

“They were bleeding profusely through their eyes,” eye witness said.

“The severe clashes are going on”.
