Residents along LOC demand safer places for shelter

Following a spike in cross firing incidents along the LOC which has left 12 people dead and scores injured, the residents living along the LOC   have demanded tents, and identification of safer places for shelter in case of any eventuality and related issues.

Earlier,the Minister for Disaster Management, Relief Rehabilitation, Reconstruction and Floriculture and Minister for PHE Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Choudhary wednesday toured RS Pura and Samba areas and took stock of the situation in shelling affected border villages.

The Ministers also met the families of two persons killed in cross border firing in village Samkha, and Satwali in Suchetgarh.

The Relief Minister  also  directed the health authorities to set up mobile health units to provide prompt patient care to locals  and mobile veterinary units to attend to livestock

Responding to the issues raised by the border residents, the Relief Minister directed the local civil and police officers to prepare a comprehensive contingency plan to deal with any eventuality due to cross border firing. He asked them not to leave the station without informing the higher ups.

Sham Choudhary asked the administration to furnish a detailed data about requirements of the people and meet the same in a well planned manner

More than 40 thousand people have moved to safer places and left the border areas following spike in violence along the LOC that has left 4 people dead and many more injured
