Scientific Advisory Committee meeting of KVK held in Kargil

Vice Chancellor Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology Kashmir (SKUAST-K) Prof Nazir Ahmad on Monday chaired the 14th Scientific Advisory Committee meeting of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Kargil at Conference Hall Baroo.

The Vice-Chancellor, while underlining the need to hold a need-based brainstorming and interactive sessions on problems identified with regard to low production in Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry and allied sectors, stressed upon scientific interventions so that maximum number of farmers are benefitted.

Executive Councilor Muhammad Hussain, who was the chief guest on the occasion, stressed upon better coordination among the line departments in disseminating latest technological know-how among farmers so as to give a boost to the productivity of crops in the district.

He assured full cooperation and support from the Hill Council to the KVK for widening and expanding its working spectrum in the larger interest of the farming community in the district.

Earlier, Programme Coordinator, KVK Kargil, Dr Ghulam Mehdi briefed the meeting about the activities undertaken by the KVK during the previous year and presented the projected action plan for the year 2018-2019.

The Advisory Committee meeting stressed upon the need of close coordination among farmers, extension functionaries and KVK scientists to devise concrete strategies in line with the emerging challenges to overcome the constraints in agriculture production and productivity.

Director Extension SKUAST-K, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad, Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, District Animal Husbandry Officer, District Sheep Husbandry Officer, officers from other line departments and progressive farmers and farm women from different parts of the district were also present on the occasion.
