Murder and Rape of Eight year Old: Supreme Court transfers case from Kathua to Pathankot   

 

The Supreme Court today transferred the trial of the rape and murder case of eight year old Kathua girl to Pathankot located in Punjab.

The supreme court instructed the state government to appoint a special public prosecutor, adding, the trial for the case will be held in camera on daily basis with no adjournments.

The court fixed the next hearing in the case on July 9.

Other than that, the supreme court pronounced that the trial will be carried out in accordance with the legal provisions of Ranbir Penal Code.

The father of the girl had moved to supreme court wherein it has cast apprehensions that their family, friends, and their lawyer Deepika Singh Rajawat were under threat.

The two accused in the rape and murder of eight year old girl have also filed a separate plea seeking that the trial in the case be held in Jammu and the probe handed over to the CBI.

The state crime branch in its charge sheet had indicted seven accused persons and juvenile in connection with the rape and murder of eight year old girl.

According to the charge sheet, the girl was kidnapped, drugged and raped inside the temple before she was murdered.
